Windows Vista, known problems:
Telnet.
Unlike the previous versions of Windows OS. Telnet has become an optional feature. This means you need to manually select it.
To do so:
1. Click Start
2. Select Settings / Control Panel
3. Select Add / Remove software
4. Select Windown components
5. Select Telnet Client
"Unidentified Network".
This is a known Windows bug. The only solution is as per below:
1. Uninstall all (ALL!!!) network adapters.
2. Reboot and let Vista reinstall all adapters.
If the problem re-occurs (which is reported to happen), the above needs to be done again.
